In earlier editions of Steps for a Successful Juice Bar we covered Buying a Juicer 1st Edition and A Well Displayed Product 2nd Edition.  In this 3rd edition  we will cover the importance of a properly trained staff.

A well-trained and professional staff is important to the success of any business and essential to any juicing business.  It requires a little bit of an investment of time and energy, but having a training plan can have major effects on your bottom line.

A well trained staff knows how to get the most out of your machine

This includes both extending the life of the machine and getting higher yields from your produce.   A broken machine can be a big expense in parts and service and lead to lost profits in dead time.  From our experience up to 90% of broken equipment comes from user error, which can be prevented.

  • * Most machines come with user manuals. This should come with any juicer you buy and it is important to make sure everyone who uses the machine is knowledgeable in the manual.
  • * See if you can get a live demo for hands on experience on the proper use of your machine. YouTube videos can also be great tools for this as well.  We keep our YouTube channel packed with important videos of demos and proper use of almost all of our equipment.
  • * Some equipment requires regular service (for example Nutrifaster & Sammic CKE machines need regular blade sharpening, belts can wear out on most machines). Don’t hesitate to ask what these regular maintenance routines are, and make sure to set regular reminders as they can lead to major problems if ignored.
  • * Know your warranty – most new machines come with a warranty of a year or more, and even some used machines have distributor warranties.

A well trained staff can better serve your customers

A staff that is knowledgeable in your product can help promote your products in store.  If for example they can explain the health benefits of different juices on your menu it adds value to your customer.
